G2 but no EU? What a China-US Strategic Partnership Would Mean for Europe
Dr Gudrun Wacker, German Institute for International and Security Affairs (Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik), Berlin

In this seminar, Dr Gudrun Wacker analyses recent calls—including from such foreign policy luminaries as Henry Kissinger and Zbigniew Brzezinski—for the establishment of a heightened bilateral relationship between the United States and China. Dr Wacker considers what implications such a development might have for Europe.

Dr Wacker is a researcher specialising in China’s foreign and security policy and domestic development. Her current areas of research focus include EU-China relations; China in the Asia-Pacific region and the role of the US; challenges to China’s modernisation and sustainable development; and China in the international order.

Dr Wacker has co-authored numerous books, academic articles and working papers, including with many of the world’s leading Asian security scholars such as Bates Gill, Christopher R. Hughes and David Shambaugh.
