Graduate Study in RMAP

RMAP provides PhD training in various aspects of resource management in the Asia Pacific Region. Students currently working with RMAP are working in the broad research fields of Environment and Anthropology. Students with interests in other research fields are also welcome to apply. Students are encouraged to undertake multidisciplinary projects that involve social and biophysical aspects of resource management. Students are supervised by staff in RMAP but research collaboration with other areas of RSPAS and the ANU is encouraged. Cross-disciplinary collaboration in relation to environmental and resource management research is supported by The ANU Institute for Environment in which RMAP is an active participant.

A PhD bridging program is available for students who require preparatory training in the social dimensions of resource management

Dr Andrew Walker is the Convenor of Graduate Studies in RMAP and initial enquiries about graduate study should be directed to him at andrew.walker@anu.edu.au.

RMAP also provides training for Master's students through participation in the Masters in Applied Anthropology and Participatory Development.

Facilities available for students

In their preliminary year, prior to fieldwork, PhD students are provided with a shared office and a computer. Funding is provided to support fieldwork expenses for PhD students. Upon return from fieldwork we aim to provide PhD students with a private office, for a limited period
