Although the text is not extensive it contains numerous references to archival and original materials for further research. From the abstract:
This research has three main objectives: 1) to explore the history of the cross-cultural marriage of Thais and Westerners, 2) to review the state of knowledge and approaches used in the cross cultural study , especially the marriage between Thai women and foreigners, so that the dynamics of the phenomena can be understood, and 3) to identify the related issues that need further study.
