Research Seminar - Developing a gender sensitive indicator for the water and sanitation sector: experiments with gender equity gauge

Although development planners and water practitioners have lamented the lack of gender disaggregated data for the water and sanitation sectors, so far little has been done to generate such data through a robust method that can be replicated in diverse contexts.

For the last two years, I have been involved in developing a Gender Equity Gauge that gives an understanding of gender inequities across different social groups in the water sector at the macro level. Over the next year, I will be fine tuning our methodology during a pilot study and plan to use this seminar as an opportunity to provide an overview of Gender Equity Gauge.
