RMAP Symposium - Putting women at the centre: gendering water
Mr Arnab Chakrabarty, Mr Sukanta Sarkar, Mr Dibyendu Chaudhuri, Dr Kuntala Lahiri-Dutt and Ms Kate Harriden

A symposium at RMAP explores the possible ways of thinking about water ‘through the gender lens’ to showcase the ongoing actions and research in India and in the ACT.

What can the academics and activists do to recognize and enhance women’s roles and voices in water resource use? The answer would depend upon, amongst other things, the context and the scale of thinking about water. It is critical to think about ‘water users’ as men and women if one is to make water resource management sustainable and beneficial for everyone and to ‘mainstream’ gender.
