Mark Eby

A screening of two short films by Mark Eby, Azbri Productions, Venice, California.

1. "The man who cannot die" - Kaipel Ka was an artist and sign writer based at Banz, Western Highlands Province, Papua New Guinea, and rapidly gaining an international reputation at the time of his death in 2008. In this film, Kaipel paints a war shield with a Phantom motif and talks to Mark Eby about the meaning of his work. Running time 10 minutes.

2. "The shield is my brother" – Mark Eby spent the early years of his childhood growing up among Tungei tribesmen at Tun village, Western Highlands, where his father was a missionary. He returns to Tun as a film maker and enlists the help of his childhood friends, now in middle-age, to film the making and decorating of traditional war shields. Running time 26 minutes.

Mark Eby, the film maker, will be available to answer questions online after the screening.
