Scholarships and Fees


PhD Scholarships

The Australian Government and the University provide scholarships to support fees (for overseas students) and stipend (for both overseas and Australian students). Scholarships are highly competitive and applicants should investigate a range of funding opportunities, including those which might be available from their home country if they are applying from outside Australia.

The Department encourages applicants to submit applications well before the required deadlines.

PhD Fees

The University and the School set all fees. Australian citizens and residents, and New Zealand citizens, do not presently pay tuition fees for higher research degrees. At present they are also covered by exemptions from the Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS) although this is under review by the University.

All PhD students must pay the University's General Services Fee which has been set at $A210 including GST for 2004.
