Recent political developments in Mindanao

In this update, Amina Rasul will examine recent developments in Mindanao since the collapse of the August 2008 peace agreement between the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Movement. She will focus on the impact of conflict on Mindanao’s population, particularly the Muslim community, and the outlook for the future, including prospects for peace and the potential impact of the national elections scheduled for May 2010.
