Biographical Statement

Darrell Tryon head and shoulders
I was educated in New Zealand at the University of Canterbury, and later at The Australian National University. Most recently, I have been involved in the completion of a book on Pacific Pidgins and Creoles (with J-M Charpentier, CNRS, Paris) and am actively engaged in work on language endangerment and national languages in the Pacific.

Research Interests

Austronesian linguistics; pidgins and creoles; language contact and language change; vernacular education; language endangerment and globalisation.
