Biographical Statement
Sambit Bhattacharyya is a Research Fellow at the Australia South Asia Research Centre (ASARC) within The Arndt-Corden Division of Economics, RSPAS. He graduated from the Australian National University (ANU) in 2007. His PhD thesis was on "Theory and Empirics of Root Causes of Economic Progress", a topic on which he has published research articles in reputed international journals of the discipline. He is currently working on an ARC funded project "Social Safety Nets in India: Effectiveness, Nutritional Impact, and Political Economy" with Raghbendra Jha.
Research Interests
Comparative economic development, comparative politics, institutional economics, and poverty and nutrition with a special focus on India.
