Student Profile
Pichamon Yeophantong, BA(Hons) (Thammasat), MA (ANU)
Pichamon May Yeophantong joined the Department's PhD program in 2008 as an inaugural ANU China Institute Scholar, after completing her MA in International Relations as a Hedley Bull Scholar in the Department's Graduate Studies in International Affairs program. She previously graduated with a BA (First-Class Honours with King Bhumipol University Medal) in British and American Studies from Thammasat University (Thailand) in 2006, and has also received a Diploma in Advanced French (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) from the Ministry of Education (France).
Pichamon's research interests reach across a number of related disciplines including foreign policy analysis, international ethics, political theory, history, and China studies. Her main pleasure lies in the exploration of International Relations theory and ways of thinking. Following from this, her doctoral thesis explores how notions of responsibility feature in Chinese political thought traditions and shape China's international engagement from an historical perspective, while concomitantly considering the underlying relationship between power and ethics.
