Student Profile
Jeffrey Wilson, BEcSocSci (Hons) (Sydney)
Jeffrey comes to the ANU from the University of Sydney, where he studied Political Economy and Economic History. His previous research examined the international constraints for China's export-oriented development strategy, for which he was awarded the University of Sydney Medal in 2006.
Jeffrey's current research project concerns the politics of state intervention in the development of Asia-Pacific production networks since the 1970s. With a focus on Australia, it considers how the state has responded to reconfigurations in the regional geography of production, and in turn how this has changed patterns of state management of political-economic processes. His research interests broadly include international political economy, the role of the state in industrial development, and the internationalisation of production. He is particularly concerned with questions regarding the relationship between states and markets in the development of global production networks in East Asia.
Jeffrey has previously worked as an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Political Economy at the University of Sydney.
