Student Profile


Md Obaidul Haque, BSS, MSS in International Relations (Dhaka), MStud in Forced Migration (Oxford)

Md Obaidul HaqueObaidul Haque began his PhD under the Australian Leadership Award programme in 2009. Before commencing his research, he was teaching international relations in the University of Dhaka since 1998, where he offered courses on refugee studies, peace and conflict studies and global environmental politics, among others. He also taught at Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh Foreign Service Academy and the Defense Services Command and Staff College. He was a Ford Foundation Fellow at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign and a Chevening Scholar at the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland. Currently, his research interests include ethnicity and ethnic conflict, durable solutions to protracted refugee problems and environmental migration. For his PhD he is looking at the role of reconciliation in post (ethnic) conflict peace building processes
