Jason Hall, BA (Hons) (ANU)

Jason Hall Jason began his PhD in 2006 with the research topic of his PhD thesis being 'Understandings and Practices of Sovereignty in Southeast Asia'. The focus of this thesis is on conceptions and practices of sovereignty in Southeast Asian states in the light of the changing character of political authority in the region. It will examine how processes of international socialisation and the local conceptions of political authority have interacted to condition postcolonial understandings and practices of sovereignty in Southeast Asia. In doing so, it seeks to contribute to explanations of how sovereignty is institutionalised within a non-Western context and the implications which this has for practices of sovereignty in those states.
