The Department of Human Geography regularly hosts short and long-term visitors from universities within the region and beyond. Intending visitors should apply to the department, including with their letter a current Curriculum Vitae, a brief outline of proposed research and proposed dates of the visit.

Sabbatical Fellowships

The Department of Human Geography offers Sabbatical Fellowships for established scholars who would like the opportunity to explore or strengthen connections between their research and the changing geography of Asia and the Pacific.

Situated within the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies, the department offers access to a range of scholars with regional expertise and libraries with excellent Asia Pacific collections. The Department is interested in fostering innovative geographic research and welcomes Australian and New Zealand scholars of high standing to apply.

A Human Geography Sabbatical Fellow:

  • Will be a salaried member of an Australian or New Zealand University (other than ANU, University of Canberra or ADFA)
  • Will typically be on an outside studies program from that university
  • Must undertake to be with the department for a visit of not less than 12 weeks
  • Must be willing to contribute to the current activities of the department
