At GSSD our academic programs are suitable for full-time students and busy professionals who can take advantage of after-hours and intensive part-time study. All the information you need to make the decision to apply to GSSD is to be found below.

Degrees

The GSSD Program offers three main qualifications. The premier Master of Arts (Strategic Studies) consists of 48 units of coursework and a 24 unit research sub-thesis. Full-time students complete the MA(SS) in three semesters (14-17 months); part-time students in six semesters (26-32 months). Both the Master of Strategic Affairs and Graduate Diploma in Strategic Affairs consist of 48 units of coursework. Full-time students complete the MSA or GDSA in two semesters, (9-11 months); part-time students in four semesters (21-23 months).

Applicants for the MA(SS) or MSA need a very good four year bachelors or honours degree or a very good degree with extensive relevant professional experience. Applicants for the GDSA need a very good three year bachelors degree.

  • Attach to your completed online application form, scanned certified copies of the following documents,
    • Copies of full academic transcripts (bring originals when enrolling)
    • English language proficiency test results (in accordance with Admission Requirements—see below)
    • List at least one academic referee on your application form who we can contact by email.

English Language Requirements

International applicants are required to provide evidence of the following:

  • Completion of their earlier degree(s) with English as the primary language of instruction; or
  • An IELTS overall band score of at least 6.5 together with a score of at least 6.0 in all components; or
  • A minimum TOEFL score of 570 and a Test of Written English (TWE) score of 4.5 ( old system), 230 ( new system ) with 4.5 in the essay component. (You must check with the Australian Diplomatic Mission in your country if TOFEL is accepted for student visa purposes).
