GSIA Alumni

2001 Class

Welcome
Welcome to the GSIA Alumni webpage - an online community for GSIA alumni. We hope that this webpage provides a means for GSIA graduates to interact with one another, to meet other graduates from previous and future graduation years, and to stay informed of upcoming GSIA events. This is a great way for you to find old friends and colleagues in the GSIA program and to make connections with those of similar professional or study interests.

As graduates of the ANU more generally, there are many University-wide opportunities available to you – please contact the ANU Alumni office for more information.

We value the ongoing contribution that alumni can make to our program and their chosen employment – in attending events and meeting with current students, in recommending the GSIA to other potential students, and most importantly, in utilising the ideas and thought processes learned during your studies to bring wisdom to decisions you make during your career.

Please update your contact details regularly (through the ANU Alumni office online submission form), and let us know if you want to share an experience, job opportunity or event with other alumni. You can do this using the online request form.

Further Study Opportunities
The GSIA provides excellent academic preparation for a PhD, and we support current and former GSIA students in pursuing further studies. Around 25 per cent of our alumni have chosen to proceed to a PhD and those that have sought to do so have been successful in gaining admission to the best graduate schools in Australia and world-wide (including Cambridge, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, London School of Economics, Oxford and Yale).

Some recommendations for places to start looking for scholarship support:

  • The JASON search engine (generally for scholarships within Australia or for Australian citizens to study overseas);
  • Consult your home country’s Education ministry (or foreign embassy if you are abroad);
  • Contact institutions of your preference individually.
