Preparing an Application

Authority to Apply form

PROCEDURES FOR ACADEMICS

Applying for Grants (other than ARC)

All grant applications are submitted to funding agencies through the College Research and Development Office. Consult us about framing your budget and provide us with a copy of the agency guidelines for this purpose. Overheads must be sought if the funding agency allows. We can:

  • Clarify grant guidelines and provide advice on preparing the application.
  • Help you to frame a budget that complies with agency guidelines and ANU policies. (see Preparing a Budget)
  • Check that other parts of your application comply with the guidelines and ANU policies.
  • Obtain College level approvals on the Authority to Apply form.

Applicants are responsible for:

  1. Prepare all application documents required by the funding agency. If you have problems downloading or moving around application forms, see your local IT Support person.
  2. Complete and sign the Authority to Apply form.
    • RSPAS applicants: get your Head of Department sign it.
    • FAS applicants: if the funding exceeds $50, 000k you also need your Director’s signature.
  3. At least 5 working days ahead of an Australian agency’s deadline and 10 working days ahead of an overseas deadline take to the College RDO:
    • the signed Authority to Apply form.
    • one copy of the original application.
    • the required number of copies stipulated by the funding agency.
  4. Provide the street address, contact name and phone number for all overseas granting agencies.
