The Arndt-Corden Division of Economics

Information for Prospective Students

The Arndt-Corden Division of Economics is devoted to full-time research by tenured and non-tenured members of staff and PhD students. It is part of the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies (RSPAS) in the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific. Professor Peter Warr is the Convenor of the Division.

The Division is mainly concerned with the theoretical and applied problems of economic development, international economics and macroeconomics, with special reference to the countries of Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and the Southwest Pacific.

Within the broad context of economic development, its interests include:

  • The economic relations of these countries with Australia
  • Macroeconomics and Finance
  • International trade and investment
  • Industrialization
  • Poverty
  • The role of the State
  • Natural resources and the environment
  • Agriculture
  • Decentralization and regional development
