Modelling Trends in Environmental and Energy Productivity

My Environmental Economics Research Hub Project aims to decompose international trends in energy productivity into components such as structural and technological change and investigate the factors that lead to differences in technology among countries. In the absence of significant carbon sequestration, carbon emissions can only be reduced by fuel switching and improvements in energy productivity. Hence understanding the factors driving energy productivity is essential to projecting future carbon emissions. The presentation will cover the development of the modelling approach, previous research results for both sulfur emissions and energy productivity, and research plans for the Hub project.
