The Research School of Pacific Studies, one of the founding schools of the Australian National University has grown and developed over the decades since the university's establishment in 1946. The major recent change occurred in 1990 when the Research School of Pacific Studies changed its name to the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies and established separate divisions within the new School, namely divisions of: Society and Environment; Pacific and Asian History; Economics and Political and International Relations.
