International Heritage Law is a week long program of intensive discussions and case study analysis, designed to give participants a solid grounding in the obligations concerning heritage established by the major international legal instruments. The case studies are from the Asia Pacific region.
The broad goals for the week are to provide students with an understanding of international standards, which have been adopted. Students will also be encouraged to see how these apply in their own countries or in Australia. They will also become acquainted with the international support mechanisms and networks and will investigate, as part of their course, their country's participation (or failure to participate) in the implementation of these instruments through their national legislation and administration.
Hosts for the program will comprise of highly experienced Heritage Law specialists and those who are working in the field of heritage protection.
Discussion and Workshop leaders will include: Professor Lyndel Prott, Professor Patrick O'Keefe and Professor Amareswar Galla.

The 2005 Pacific Islands Workshop is to be held in conjunction with summer schools in China Studies,Thai Studies, Indonesian Studies, Korean Studies, Pacific Island Studies, Vietnam Studies, Japan Studies and South Asia Studies. The Asia-Pacific week will feature special events such as keynote speeches, films, performances and exhibitions. Participants at the Pacific Islands Workshop will interact with participants from other summer schools in combined social functions.
